Motorbiking Popularity?
Motor biking is an increasingly popular sport in todays
society. The high price of gasoline makes this leisure time
activity beneficial to the financially savvy tourist.
However, motorbikes are not only used for long trips.
Motorbiking is also a sport activity for those who feel the
need for speed.
A recently popular style of motor bike is the chopper .
These cruiser type motor bikes are typically used for long
distance travel. The most common attribute of these motor
bikes is the elongated front wheel and the ergonomic seated
position. Motorbike shops all across the nation specialize
in designing bespoke, custom made choppers for motorbike
enthusiasts. A very popular television show called West
Coast Choppers focuses on the details of custom chopper
production.
There are many brands and styles of motorbikes. Some famous
brands include; Ducati, Honda, Harley Davidson, BMW,
Kawasaki, Red Wing, Suzuki, Triumph, and Yamaha. These
brands of motorbike span the full range of motor biking
interests from sport riding to cross country touring.
Motorbikes can be factory manufactured or custom built to
fit the customers specific riding needs. Motor biking
safety is a very controversial subject. These small vehicles
are incredibly vulnerable on the open road. Statistics show
that about 75 out of every 100,000 registered motor bikes
are involved in a fatal accident at some point. This is a
drastic increase from regular passenger cars, which only
have a fatal accident rate of about 19 per 100,000
registered vehicles -- which further highlights the legal
requirements of helmets and bike insurance!
Wearing a helmet while operating a motor bike is crucial. In
fact, in most major cities in the United States, the law
requires wearing a helmet and failure to do so can result in
costly ticket fines. It is also important to consider the
environmental impact that motorbiking has on this fragile
environment. Although these small vehicles use much less gas
than the regular passenger car (between 29 and 107 miles per
one gallon of gas,) they still emit carbon dioxide and other
harmful gases into the environment.
It is interesting to know that although motorbikes produce
far less green house gases than an average car, the motor
bike also produces about 10 to 20 times the amount of total
pollution when compared to a regular passenger vehicle. It
is safe to say that any activity that produces this harmful
effect is best enjoyed in moderation for the sake of our
planet.
