How do I suppress noise in my Harley Davidson motorcycle cb radio?
Harleyman2 asked:
I have a 2000 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic with built in CB radio. It's very quiet with the engine off. When I start the motor I get a wining noise. How can I suppress some of that noise?

check grounds – its picking up the motor noise
You can put an RF-gain filter on the power line. You may need resistor spark plugs to stop the hiss sound.
You can buy a filter that goes between the CB and the coax to filter out ignition and alt. noise. Try the Harley dealer or Radio shack. good luck
Change the plugs find a resistor type plugs
buy a real bike…lol
If this just recently started you might have a loose connection. Also there is a noise filter in the wire that brings power to the radio. Perhaps it has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
Remove the unit from the fairing and either give it to somebody who rides a Honda Oldwing or toss it in the nearest trashcan. What the hell do you need a CB radio on a Harley for.
turn the squelch knob to the right until it stops.
Whining is noise coming in from alternator on power line.
1: check all connections, including antenna.
2: install an RF choke or filter in power line.
DO NOT add anything between your radio and antenna.
Clicking noise that increases with acceleration is from ignition.
Check all plug and coil wires for clean, tight connections.
Use resistor type spark plugs.
