harley engines are funny making 2 pistons on one crank dumb i say but if they made the piston fire independently it would have been smart and more powerfull

But if it had two independent connecting rods, it wouldn’t be a radial, and it definitely wouldn’t have the Harley sound. It’d sound like a Kawasaki. The radial design gives the Harley the lop-lop sound even at speed.

This is based on a Sportster (4 cam) crankcase but with detached transmission. Very nice.

no, ignition actually starts slightly after the beginning of the compression stroke. it all helps with volumetric efficency.

Thats why Import bikes can go 10 times faster? Harleys cost alot to maintain and are mainly just for cruising around on. Imports go fast and can also just cruise.
I think he’s talking about the left cylinder. The right one starts ignition right before the top of the compression stroke, like it should, and the left one starts at the bottom of the compression stroke. You won’t be able to ignite something thats not compressed, or if it does light off, it won’t produce much power.
